We are looking for motivated and responsible candidates to join the Air Cargo Department at an airport. The selected candidate will support cargo handling, documentation, shipment processing, warehouse operations, cargo movement, and coordination with airlines, freight forwarders, customs, ground-handling teams, and customers.Key ResponsibilitiesReceive, check, and process incoming and outgoing air cargo shipments.Handle cargo booking, acceptance, storage, loading, unloading, and delivery activities.Verify shipment details, airway bills, invoices, packing lists, and other required documents.Ensure cargo is properly labeled, packed, weighed, and recorded.Coordinate with airlines, freight forwarders, exporters, importers, customs agents, and ground-handling teams.Prepare and maintain cargo-related documentation and operational records.Update shipment information in cargo management systems.Monitor cargo movement from acceptance through loading and dispatch.Assist with the handling of general cargo, express shipments, valuable cargo, perishable goods, and other special cargo as assigned.Check cargo for visible damage, discrepancies, incorrect labeling, or documentation issues.Ensure cargo is stored safely according to applicable operational requirements.Coordinate with warehouse teams for timely cargo movement.Assist in loading and unloading cargo using appropriate equipment and procedures.Follow airport security, safety, and cargo-handling procedures.Report damaged, missing, or irregular shipments to the appropriate supervisor.Maintain accurate inventory and shipment records.Support customs and security inspection procedures when required.Respond professionally to customer and freight-forwarder queries.Ensure timely completion of assigned cargo operations.Maintain cleanliness and organization of the cargo handling and warehouse areas.Perform other duties assigned by the Cargo Manager/Supervisor.Import Cargo ResponsibilitiesReceive and process arriving cargo shipments.Verify airway bills and shipment documentation.Coordinate cargo unloading and warehouse receipt.Assist with customs and security clearance procedures.Update shipment status and maintain records.Coordinate with freight forwarders and consignees for cargo delivery.Identify and report discrepancies, damage, or missing documents.Export Cargo ResponsibilitiesAccept export shipments from customers/freight forwarders.Verify cargo weight, dimensions, packaging, labeling, and documentation.Process airway bills and cargo acceptance records.Coordinate security screening and customs-related requirements.Arrange cargo storage and movement to the appropriate aircraft loading area.Ensure shipments are available for loading within operational deadlines.Skills & CompetenciesGood communication and interpersonal skills.Basic computer knowledge.Good documentation and record-keeping skills.Ability to work in a fast-paced airport environment.Attention to detail.Good coordination and teamwork abilities.Customer-service orientation.Ability to follow safety and security procedures.Problem-solving and time-management skills.Physically fit for warehouse/cargo handling duties where required.Willingness to work in shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.Educational QualificationMinimum: 10+2 / Higher SecondaryPreferred: Graduate in any discipline.Candidates with qualifications or training in Aviation, Airport Management, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Cargo Management, or related fields may be preferred depending on the position.ExperienceFreshers can apply for entry-level Air Cargo Staff/Executive positions.Experience in airport operations, logistics, warehousing, freight forwarding, courier services, or cargo handling is an advantage.Working ConditionsWork is primarily based at an airport cargo terminal, warehouse, or airside/landside operational area.Shift-based work may be required.Employees may need to stand or walk for extended periods.Some positions may involve lifting or moving cargo using approved procedures/equipment.Strict compliance with airport security and safety requirements is mandatory.Key Performance Areas (KPIs)Accuracy of cargo documentation.Timely cargo acceptance and processing.Cargo handling and storage accuracy.Shipment tracking and status updates.Compliance with safety and security procedures.Reduction of cargo discrepancies and handling errors.Timely coordination with internal and external stakeholders.Customer-service quality.Salary (India)Fresher: 25,000 - 30,000 per monthExperienced (2-5 years): 30,000 - 45,000 per monthSenior Ground Staff / Supervisor: 45,000 - 70,000+ per monthSalary varies depending on the airline, airport, location, experience, and employer.
