Job Title: Production & QMD SupervisorDepartment: Production & Quality Management Department (QMD)Reports To: Production Manager / Quality Manager / Plant HeadJob SummaryThe Production & QMD Supervisor is responsible for supervising daytoday production activities while ensuring compliance with quality standards, procedures, and quality management systems. The role acts as a bridge between production and quality teams to ensure defectfree output, adherence to SOPs, and continuous process improvement.Key ResponsibilitiesProduction SupervisionSupervise daily production operations to meet planned targets, delivery schedules, and efficiency goalsAllocate manpower, machines, and materials as per production requirementsMonitor workflow, productivity, and minimize downtime and reworkEnsure adherence to approved production processes and work instructionsQuality Management (QMD)Implement and monitor quality standards, procedures, and control plansEnsure compliance with QMS requirements (ISO 9001 / IATF / customer standards)Monitor inprocess inspections, final inspections, and quality checkpointsIdentify quality issues, nonconformities, and initiate corrective & preventive actions (CAPA)Inspection & ControlVerify firstoff, inprocess, and final inspection resultsEnsure proper use of measuring instruments and gaugesControl rejection, rework, and scrap levels within defined limitsSupport customer and internal quality auditsDocumentation & ReportingMaintain production and quality records, inspection reports, and checklistsEnsure proper documentation as per QMD and audit requirementsPrepare daily / weekly production and quality performance reportsSupport traceability and document control activitiesTeam Coordination & TrainingSupervise and guide shopfloor operators, inspectors, and techniciansTrain team members on SOPs, quality standards, and safety practicesCoordinate with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Stores departmentsSafety & ComplianceEnsure adherence to safety rules, PPE usage, and statutory requirementsPromote 5S, housekeeping, and safe work practicesReport and participate in incident, nearmiss, and root cause analysisContinuous ImprovementSupport Kaizen, lean manufacturing, and quality improvement initiativesIdentify process improvement opportunities to enhance productivity and qualityParticipate in problemsolving using tools like 7QC tools, RCCA, FMEA (preferred)QualificationsDiploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, Industrial, or Quality EngineeringITI with strong supervisory and quality experience may be consideredSkills & CompetenciesStrong knowledge of manufacturing and production processesGood understanding of quality management systems (QMD / QMS)Ability to read drawings, specifications, and quality plansExperience with basic quality tools (CAPA, 7QC tools)Leadership, communication, and coordination skillsBasic knowledge of ERP / production reporting systems
