Job SummaryThe Fire & Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring a safe working environment by implementing fire safety measures, identifying hazards, enforcing safety standards, and leading emergency response procedures. The role ensures compliance with statutory safety regulations, conducts regular inspections, trains employees, and promotes a proactive safety culture within the organization. Key ResponsibilitiesFire Safety Management:Develop, implement, and monitor fire safety policies, procedures, and standards.Conduct regular inspections of fire alarms, hydrants, extinguishers, sprinklers, emergency exits, and safety systems.Ensure proper maintenance of firefighting equipment and coordinate with vendors for servicing and certification.Safety Compliance & Inspection:Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and hazard identification (HAZID) across workplace areas.Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, ISO 45001, and local statutory regulations.Maintain documentation of safety compliance reports, audit findings, incident logs, and safety records.Emergency Preparedness & Response:Develop and implement Emergency Response Plans (ERP) and Evacuation Plans.Lead emergency drills, fire drills, and evacuation training to prepare staff for real emergencies.Serve as the first responder during incidents, coordinate rescue operations, and manage emergency communication.Training & Awareness:Conduct safety training, toolbox talks (TBT), and awareness programs for employees, contractors, and visitors.Promote a strong safety culture through safety campaigns, posters, and workshops.Incident Management & Investigation:Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes.Prepare incident reports, recommend corrective/preventive actions (CAPA), and monitor implementation.Operational Safety Support:Monitor Permit to Work (PTW) system for high-risk jobs (hot work, confined space, working at height).Assist teams in safe operational procedures for construction, industrial, manufacturing, or facility management.Coordinate with HSE, maintenance, HR, and management to resolve safety concerns. Required Skills & CompetenciesTechnical Skills:Strong knowledge of fire protection systems, prevention techniques, and firefighting operations.Familiarity with PPE standards, hazard control measures, and safety signage.Knowledge of safety audits such as HIRA, JSA/JHA, and risk-based safety practices.Understanding of electrical, chemical, mechanical, and industrial safety procedures.Knowledge of relevant standards: OSHA, NFPA, ISO 45001, and local fire safety codes.Soft Skills:Leadership and quick decision-making during emergencies.Strong communication and people management skills.High alertness, observation, and problem-solving abilities.Training, presentation, and documentation/report writing skills. Education & CertificationsBachelors degree or Diploma in Fire & Safety, Industrial Safety, or related field.Preferred Certifications:NEBOSH / IOSH / NFPA certificationsFirst Aid & CPR certificationDiploma/PG Diploma in Fire & Industrial Safety Engineering Experience RequirementsEntry Level: 02 yearsMid-Level: 37 yearsSenior/Manager Level: 8+ years in Fire & Safety or HSE rolesExperience in sectors like manufacturing, construction, oil & gas, aviation, facility management, or industrial plants is an added advantage. Work EnvironmentWork may involve indoor and outdoor locations, including high-risk industrial areas.Must be available for emergency response beyond regular working hours.Regular safety rounds, inspections, and coordination with external fire or government authorities.
