role summary
the area sales manager (asm) will lead sales operations across karnataka, driving performance through effective team management, strategic market planning, and strong customer relationships. the role focuses on achieving sales targets, expanding market presence, and ensuring consistent business growth in alignment with spenchem’s brand vision and values.
key responsibilities
1. team leadership & field management
lead, train, and motivate medical representatives (mrs) to achieve individual and area targets.
conduct joint field visits and provide on-the-job coaching to enhance field productivity and product knowledge.
monitor performance metrics including call averages, coverage, and conversion rates.
build a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
2. sales planning & target achievement
develop and implement territory-level plans to achieve monthly and annual sales goals.
analyze sales performance data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities.
implement corrective measures to ensure consistent and sustainable growth.
ensure effective execution of marketing strategies and promotional campaigns.
3. market development & relationship building
build and strengthen relationships with doctors, hospitals, and channel partners.
identify new business opportunities and potential areas for market expansion.
ensure product availability, visibility, and proper distribution coverage through efficient stockist coordination.
support product launches and ensure strong on-ground execution of marketing initiatives.
4. reporting & market intelligence
maintain accurate sales records, market data, and customer feedback.
provide timely reports on field performance, competitor activity, and emerging market trends.
represent spenchem in regional conferences, cmes, and professional events to enhance brand reputation.

fluency in english and kannada (spoken and written) is mandatory.

qualifications & experience
graduate in pharmacy, science, or any related discipline (mba in marketing preferred).
5–8 years of pharmaceutical sales experience, including 2–3 years in a team-handling role.
prior exposure to specialty product segments such as orthopedic, gynaecology, or analgesics will be an added advantage.
