a field sales executive is a customer-facing role responsible for driving revenue growth by actively seeking out and engaging new customers, maintaining relationships with existing clients, and selling products or services within an assigned geographic territory. this role involves significant travel and face-to-face interaction.
primary objective
to achieve sales targets and expand market share by conducting direct, in-person sales activities, managing the entire sales cycle from lead generation to deal closure within a specified territory.
📋 key responsibilities and duties
1. sales and business development
target achievement: meet or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales quotas and performance objectives.
prospecting & lead generation: identify, qualify, and pursue new sales opportunities and potential clients within the assigned territory through cold calls, networking, and referrals.
full sales cycle management: manage the entire sales process, including initial client contact, needs assessment, customized product/service presentations, negotiation, and contract finalization.
demonstrations: conduct product demonstrations, presentations, and solution walkthroughs tailored to the client's specific business needs.
2. client relationship management
account servicing: serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, building and maintaining strong, long-lasting relationships.
retention: regularly check in with existing clients to ensure satisfaction, address issues, and identify opportunities for upselling or cross-selling.
market feedback: gather customer and competitor feedback and report market trends to the sales and product development teams.
3. reporting and administration
crm management: maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all sales activities, customer interactions, and pipeline progress in the customer relationship management (crm) system (., salesforce).
forecasting: prepare and submit accurate sales forecasts, reports, and territory analysis.
expense management: manage and report travel and business expenses in a timely and compliant manner.
territory planning: develop and execute a strategic sales plan for the territory to ensure comprehensive market coverage.
