Core ResponsibilitiesA Production Engineers daily work is a mix of desk analysis and boots-on-the-ground floor management.1. Process Optimization & EfficiencyOEE Tracking: Monitoring Overall Equipment Effectiveness, which measures how much of your manufacturing time is truly productive (Availability Performance Quality).Bottleneck Removal: Identifying parts of the assembly line where work gets stuck and rearranging the workflow to keep things moving.Cost Reduction: Finding ways to use less electricity, fewer raw materials, and less time for each unit produced.2. Technical OversightLine Setup: Designing the layout of the machines and workstations to minimize the distance a part has to travel.Troubleshooting: Being the first person called when a machine stops or when the scrap rate (rejected products) suddenly goes up.Tooling & Jigs: Designing or ordering specific tools (jigs/fixtures) that help workers assemble parts faster and with fewer errors.3. Team & Resource ManagementManpower Planning: Deciding how many people are needed per shift to meet the daily production target.SOP Implementation: Writing and enforcing Standard Operating Procedures so that every worker builds the product exactly the same way.4. Safety & MaintenancePreventive Maintenance: Scheduling machine downtime for service before they break, avoiding expensive emergency repairs.EHS Compliance: Ensuring every worker is wearing PPE and that the factory floor follows environmental and safety laws.

Production Planning and Scheduling: Develop short-term and long-term production plans based on customer orders, sales forecasts, and resource availability. This includes creating detailed production schedules, assigning tasks, and setting deadlines.Material and Resource Planning: Forecast material requirements and coordinate with the procurement and inventory teams to ensure the timely availability of raw materials. They also plan and allocate resources, including machinery, manpower, and tools, to optimize the manufacturing process.Shop Floor Coordination: Monitor production progress on the factory floor, address any delays or bottlenecks, and ensure the production team has the necessary support to meet targets.ERP/SAP and Documentation: Operate and manage data within ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) or SAP systems for tasks like job order creation, material issue, and status updates. They are also responsible for maintaining production reports, delay analysis, and performance metrics.Continuous Improvement: Analyze production data to identify inefficiencies and suggest process improvements. They often implement lean manufacturing tools such as 5S or Kaizen to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve overall operational efficiency.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as a key link between various departments, including design, quality control, sales, and logistics, to ensure a smooth workflow and a cohesive approach to production.
