Purpose: The purpose of this position is to apply the skills, competency, and experience of a qualified Floor & Wall Tile (Granite & marble) to a range of tasks as allocated by the supervisors.Duties & Responsibilities In this role you will be responsible for installing tiles. You will be working in high-end residential homes and travelling to and from commercial businesses throughout the Australia region. Cutting and shaping tiles with a range of tools such as wet saw, and handheld cutters. Preparing various surfaces for tiling with waterproof materials. Creating decorative wall and floor designs. Cutting installing, and polishing different surfaces including granite, marble and stone. Aligning tiles, straighten them with straightedges, levels, and squares to ensure patterns are even and precise. Always keep the working area clean. Examining plans, measuring, and marking surfaces and laying out work. Preparing wall and floor surfaces by removing old tiles, grout and adhesive, filling holes and cracks, and cleaning surfaces. Spreading adhesive onto prepared surfaces and tiles and setting tiles in position. Using tile-cutting tools to cut and shape tiles needed for edges and corners, and around objects such as fittings and pipes. Ensuring tiles are correctly aligned and spaced. Grouting tiles, and cleaning and removing excess grout. Applying waterproofing systems. May lay floors of granolithic, terrazzo, cement or similar composition. May lay coloured tiles in patterns to create mosaics.Qualifications Licences, Certificates & Competencies Valid Driver License. Trade Certificate III in Wall and Floor Tiling (desirable)Knowledge, Experience & Skills Minimum of 3+ years experience as a wall and floor tiler, must know the construction industry. Experience in waterproofing, epoxy grout, natural stone tiling, sealing, laying of natural stone, and mosaics.
