Wall & Floor Tiler (Full Time)

purpose: the purpose of this position is to apply the skills, competency, and experience of a qualified floor & wall tile (granite & marble) to a range of tasks as allocated by the supervisors.

duties & responsibilities

• in this role you will be responsible for installing tiles. you will be working in high-end residential homes and travelling to and from commercial businesses throughout the australia region.

• cutting and shaping tiles with a range of tools such as wet saw, and handheld cutters.

• preparing various surfaces for tiling with waterproof materials.

• creating decorative wall and floor designs.

• cutting installing, and polishing different surfaces including granite, marble and stone.

• aligning tiles, straighten them with straightedges, levels, and squares to ensure patterns are even and precise.

• always keep the working area clean.

• examining plans, measuring, and marking surfaces and laying out work.

• preparing wall and floor surfaces by removing old tiles, grout and adhesive, filling holes and cracks, and cleaning surfaces.

• spreading adhesive onto prepared surfaces and tiles and setting tiles in position.

• using tile-cutting tools to cut and shape tiles needed for edges and corners, and around objects such as fittings and pipes.

• ensuring tiles are correctly aligned and spaced.

• grouting tiles, and cleaning and removing excess grout.

• applying waterproofing systems.

• may lay floors of granolithic, terrazzo, cement or similar composition.

• may lay coloured tiles in patterns to create mosaics.

qualifications – licences, certificates & competencies

• valid driver license.

• trade certificate iii in wall and floor tiling (desirable)

knowledge, experience & skills

• minimum of 3+ years’ experience as a wall and floor tiler, must know the construction industry.

• experience in waterproofing, epoxy grout, natural stone tiling, sealing, laying of natural stone, and mosaics.
