A Fire & Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring a safe working environment by implementing fire prevention measures, safety policies, and emergency procedures. They monitor workplace hazards, conduct safety audits, and ensure compliance with legal and organizational safety standards. Key Responsibilities Fire Safety ManagementDevelop and implement fire safety plans and proceduresInspect and maintain fire-fighting equipment (extinguishers, hydrants, alarms)Conduct regular fire drills and evacuation trainingEnsure compliance with fire safety regulations Workplace SafetyIdentify hazards and conduct risk assessmentsEnforce safety rules and use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)Monitor site activities to prevent accidents and unsafe practices Safety Audits & InspectionsConduct routine safety inspections and auditsPrepare safety reports and documentationRecommend corrective and preventive actions Emergency ResponseRespond to fire incidents and emergenciesCoordinate evacuation proceduresProvide first aid and emergency assistance Training & AwarenessConduct safety training sessions for employeesEducate staff on fire prevention and emergency responsePromote a strong safety culture Compliance & DocumentationEnsure compliance with local safety laws and regulationsMaintain safety records, permits, and licensesLiaise with government authorities and auditors Eligibility CriteriaEducation: Diploma / Degree in Fire & Safety, Industrial Safety, or related fieldCertifications: Fire & Safety Certification, NEBOSH (preferred), IOSH (added advantage)Experience: 0-5 years (industry-dependent) Required SkillsStrong knowledge of fire safety systems and regulationsExcellent observation and risk assessment skillsGood communication and training abilityProblem-solving and decision-making skillsAbility to handle emergency situations calmly Physical & Personal RequirementsPhysically fit and alertAbility to work in hazardous environmentsStrong leadership and disciplineAttention to detail Work EnvironmentIndustrial sites, construction projects, airports, factoriesRotational shifts and on-call dutiesExposure to high-risk environments Salary Range (India)Fresher: 20,000 - 30,000/monthExperienced: 30,000 - 75,000+/month
