Job PurposeThe Quality Controller will be responsible for ensuring that raw materials, components, in-process products and finished products meet defined quality standards, approved drawings, specifications and customer requirements.The role will involve regular inspection at different stages of production, identification of defects, coordination with Production and other departments, maintaining quality records, and supporting corrective and preventive actions.Key ResponsibilitiesA. Incoming Material Inspection Inspect incoming raw materials and bought-out components. Check Brass, Iron, Zinc, Aluminium, Steel and other materials as per specifications. Verify dimensions, quantity, grade, surface condition and material quality. Identify and report defective or non-conforming materials. Maintain incoming inspection records.B. In-Process Quality Control Conduct quality inspections at different stages of manufacturing. Monitor machining, casting, forging, pressing, drilling, grinding, polishing, finishing and assembly processes. Ensure products are manufactured according to approved drawings and specifications. Identify defects at the earliest stage to reduce rejection and rework. Coordinate with Production Supervisors for immediate corrective action.C. Final Inspection Carry out final inspection of finished products before packing and dispatch. Check:o Dimensionso Toleranceso Appearanceo Surface finisho Colour and platingo Functionalityo Assemblyo Packing and labelling Ensure only approved products are released for dispatch.D. Drawing & Measurement Read and understand engineering/product drawings. Check dimensions and tolerances as per approved drawings. Use measuring instruments such as:o Vernier Calipero Micrometero Height Gaugeo Plug Gaugeo Ring Gaugeo Thread Gaugeo Measuring Scales and other inspection equipment. Ensure measuring instruments are properly maintained and calibrated.E. Surface Finish & Plating Inspection Inspect polishing, buffing, plating, powder coating, PVD and other finishing processes. Identify scratches, dents, colour variation, stains, plating defects, roughness and other surface defects. Coordinate with finishing vendors/departments regarding quality problems.F. Defect & Rejection Control Identify, segregate and record rejected products. Maintain daily rejection and rework reports. Analyse recurring quality problems. Communicate major defects immediately to Production and QA/QC management. Support reduction of rejection, rework and customer complaints.G. Quality DocumentationMaintain proper records including: Incoming Inspection Reports In-Process Inspection Reports Final Inspection Reports Rejection Reports Rework Reports NCR Reports Corrective Action Reports Calibration Records Product Inspection Checklists Customer Complaint RecordsH. Root Cause & Corrective Action Participate in investigation of quality problems. Use basic Root Cause Analysis techniques such as 5 Why and Fishbone Analysis. Support implementation of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA). Verify effectiveness of corrective actions.I. Customer & Product Quality Understand customer-specific quality requirements. Ensure production is carried out according to approved samples, drawings and specifications. Support customer inspections and quality audits when required. Assist in investigation and resolution of customer complaints.Required Technical Skills Good knowledge of quality inspection procedures. Knowledge of Brass, Iron, Zinc, Aluminium and other metal hardware. Good knowledge of engineering drawings and tolerances. Knowledge of measuring instruments. Knowledge of surface finishing and plating defects. Knowledge of AQL and sampling inspection. Basic knowledge of 7 QC Tools. Root Cause Analysis and CAPA. Knowledge of calibration and inspection systems.
