This role is crucial in ensuring that all freight and passenger luggage are handled efficiently and safely, contributing to the overall operation of air transport services.Primary ResponsibilitiesLoading and Unloading Aircraft: Cargo loaders are tasked with transferring cargo onto airplanes, which includes lifting heavy items and using specialized equipment such as forklifts, belt loaders, and tugs.Operating Equipment: They operate ramp-servicing vehicles and equipment like towing tractors, food service trucks, de-icer sprayers, and lavatory servicing trucks to facilitate the movement of cargo.Sorting Cargo: Loaders sort and load cargo according to instructions provided by load planners to achieve proper balance within the aircraft compartments.Positioning Equipment: They help position passenger loading stairs and operate aircraft cargo doors to ensure safe access for loading operations.Marshalling Aircraft: Cargo loaders may also be involved in marshalling or towing aircraft to gate positions for passenger boarding or for loading/unloading operations.Documentation: They prepare necessary documentation related to air movement, ensuring that all freight packages are accounted for and properly labeled.Safety Compliance: Ensuring compliance with safety regulations is a critical part of their job.
