job summary:
the staff nurse is responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care to patients under the supervision of medical professionals. this role involves assessing patient conditions, administering medications, monitoring progress, maintaining medical records, and ensuring that all nursing activities comply with hospital standards and safety protocols.
key responsibilities:

provide direct patient care, including monitoring vital signs, assisting with mobility, and maintaining personal hygiene.
administer medications and injections as prescribed by the physician.
monitor patient symptoms and reactions to treatments, and report any significant changes to the doctor.
assist in feeding, bathing, dressing, and other daily activities of patients when required.
provide compassionate care and emotional support to patients and their families.

prepare and maintain patient charts, records, and reports accurately.
perform wound dressing, catheterization, and iv insertion.
maintain and operate medical equipment (oxygen cylinders, ecg machines, suction units, etc.).
follow infection control and sterilization protocols strictly.
assist doctors during examinations, minor surgeries, and medical procedures.
ensure proper sample collection, labeling, and dispatch to laboratories.

record patient information, medication charts, and nursing notes accurately.
maintain ward stock of medicines, consumables, and medical equipment.
assist in maintaining hospital records, reports, and audit data.
ensure compliance with hospital policies and healthcare regulations.
๐ emergency & postoperative care
provide first aid and respond quickly to emergency situations.
assist in pre- and post-operative care for surgical patients.
monitor postoperative recovery and report complications immediately.
be prepared to perform cpr or other life-saving interventions if required.
๐ง training & coordination
coordinate with doctors, physiotherapists, technicians, and administrative staff.
support training and orientation for junior nurses and nursing assistants.
participate in hospital quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.

certifications: bls (basic life support) / acls (advanced cardiac life support) preferred.
work environment:
hospital, clinic, or healthcare facility setting.
rotational shifts (morning, evening, and night), including weekends and holidays.
may require working in high-stress and emergency situations.
use of protective equipment (gloves, masks, gowns) as per safety protocols.
