A Quality Head (or Quality Manager/Director) in a piston manufacturing company is a senior leadership role responsible for ensuring that all products meet stringent automotive industry standards (IATF , ISO 9001) for performance, durability, and safety. The role involves overseeing the entire Quality Management System (QMS), managing teams, reducing Cost of Quality (COQ), and collaborating with engineering and production departments to ensure zero-defect production.

Key Job Responsibilities

Quality Strategy & Leadership: Define and implement quality policies, objectives, and procedures that align with company goals to meet customer expectations (., OEMs).

Quality Management Systems (QMS): Maintain compliance with industry standards, specifically IATF , ISO 9001, and, in some cases, AS9100.

Production Quality Control: Oversee incoming raw material inspection, in-process inspection, and final product release for pistons.

Problem Solving & Root Cause Analysis: Lead investigations into product quality issues using RCCA tools (., 8D, 5-Why, A3) to resolve customer complaints and reduce Customer PPM (Parts Per Million).

Supplier Quality Management: Monitor and audit suppliers to ensure raw materials meet specifications, reducing non-conformances.

Continuous Improvement: Drive initiatives to reduce scrap, rework, and waste (Lean manufacturing).

Documentation & Reporting: Prepare quality reports for senior management, manage audits, and ensure all quality records are accurate.
