• install, configure, and support an organization’s local area network (lan), wide area network (wan), and internet systems or a segment of a network system
• maintain network hardware and software, analyse problems, and monitor the network to ensure its availability to system users
• assist in network modelling, analysis, planning, and design
• recommend changes to improve systems and network configurations, and determine project costs and feasibility
• coordinate installation of new hardware and software and provide training to end-users
• monitor usage statistics and trends to assist in capacity planning
• perform data backups and disaster recovery operations
• configure firewalls, routers, switches, hubs, and other network devices
• troubleshoot issues with networks, hardware, and software
• stay up-to-date on the latest networking technologies
• document all technical procedures and user manuals
• provide tier 2/3 technical support
