The Quality Engineer is responsible for establishing, maintaining, and improving quality control systems within the manufacturing plant. This role ensures products meet customer specifications, regulatory standards, and internal quality metrics through process monitoring, testing protocols, root-cause investigations, and supplier quality management.Key ResponsibilitiesProcess & Product Quality ControlEstablish quality standards, Control Plans, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for inline manufacturing processes.Oversee Incoming Quality Control (IQC), In-Process Quality Control (IPQC), and Final Quality Assurance (FQA) activities.Conduct mechanical, dimensional, metallurgical, and hardness testing on raw materials and finished parts.Defect Analysis & Corrective ActionsLead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) using structured problem-solving methods (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone Diagram) for non-conformances.Issue and manage Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) requests to resolve recurring manufacturing defects.Disposition non-conforming materials and coordinate Material Review Board (MRB) activities.Quality Systems & AuditsMaintain compliance with QMS standards (ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or ISO 13485 depending on plant focus).Lead internal process audits and participate in customer or third-party certification audits.Prepare and execute Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) and Measurement System Analysis (MSA).Supplier & Customer QualityEvaluate supplier performance, inspect raw material lots (bar stock, castings, turned parts), and manage Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs).Interface directly with customers to address technical inquiries, quality complaints, and PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) submissions.
