Role Overview:As a cashier in retail operations, your primary responsibility is to provide excellent customer service by accurately processing sales transactions and ensuring a smooth checkout experience. You will be an integral part of the retail team, handling cash, credit card transactions, and maintaining the cash register system. Your attention to detail, friendly demeanor, and ability to handle money effectively are essential for this role.Key Responsibilities:- Customer Service: Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner, assist them with their purchases, answer inquiries, and resolve any concerns or issues related to the checkout process.- Point of Sale (POS) Operations: Operate the cash register system and POS software efficiently and accurately. Scan and record items accurately, apply discounts or promotions as required, and ensure prices are correct.- Product Knowledge: Familiarize yourself with the store's products, promotions, and sales to effectively assist customers with their purchases and provide recommendations when needed.- Bagging and Packaging: Properly bag or package customers purchases, ensuring items are handled carefully and packaged securely to prevent damage. Offer assistance in carrying heavy or bulky items to customers vehicles when required.- Store Maintenance: Keep the checkout area clean and organized, ensuring the availability of necessary supplies such as bags, receipt paper, and pens. Assist in restocking merchandise near the cash register area as needed.- Returns and Exchanges: Process returns and exchanges according to the store's policies, verify items and receipts, and issue appropriate refunds or store credits. Handle any customer inquiries or complaints related to returns.- Sales Support: Assist in other areas of the store as needed, such as restocking shelves, organizing displays, or providing support during busy periods. Collaborate with other team members to maintain an efficient and productive work environment.- Security and Loss Prevention: Adhere to store security procedures, including verifying identification for age-restricted purchases, checking bills for counterfeits, and reporting any suspicious activities or discrepancies to management.- Compliance: Follow all applicable laws, regulations, and store policies, including those related to cash handling, privacy, and customer information confidentiality.Qualifications and Skills:- Degree.- Previous cashier or customer service experience in a retail environment is preferred.- Strong numeracy skills and attention to detail.- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.- Ability to handle cash transactions accurately and efficiently.- Familiarity with cash register systems and POS software is a plus.- Basic computer proficiency.- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods.- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the store's operating hours.- Freshers can apply.
