A Purchase Engineer in a rotavator or agricultural machinery manufacturing company plays a crucial role in sourcing raw materials (steel, castings, forgings), components (gears, bearings, blades), and services to ensure uninterrupted production while optimizing costs. This role requires a blend of engineering knowledge to understand technical drawings and procurement expertise to manage vendor relationships.

Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:

Procurement & Sourcing: Identify, evaluate, and develop suppliers for raw materials and engineering components (castings, machined parts, gears).

Supplier Negotiation: Negotiate pricing, contracts, delivery schedules, and payment terms to achieve cost optimization.

Material Planning & Inventory: Monitor inventory levels, maintain safety stocks, and align purchasing with production schedules (MRP) to minimize stock-outs.

Quality Coordination: Work with quality control to ensure incoming materials meet technical specifications and standards.

Order Management: Process purchase orders (POs), track deliveries, and resolve supply chain bottlenecks.

Technical Compliance: Review engineering drawings and material specifications to ensure vendor compliance.

Import/Local Purchasing: Handle both local and, if necessary, international sourcing, including custom clearance documentation.

Documentation: Maintain accurate purchasing records, vendor performance data, and ERP system updates.
