the aircraft mechanic / aircraft technician is responsible for performing maintenance, repair, inspection, and modification tasks on aircraft to ensure they are safe, airworthy, and fully operational. the role involves hands-on technical work, strict adherence to aviation regulations, and close coordination with engineers, quality inspectors, and flight crews to support efficient flight operations.
key responsibilities
๐ ๏ธ aircraft maintenance & repair
perform scheduled (a, b, c, d checks) and unscheduled maintenance on aircraft and components.
inspect, troubleshoot, and repair airframes, engines, hydraulic, pneumatic, fuel, and electrical systems.
carry out defect rectification, part replacement, and system testing as per maintenance manuals.
conduct routine inspections and ensure all work meets safety and airworthiness standards.
perform line maintenance and base maintenance activities according to daily operational needs.
support pre-flight and post-flight checks to ensure aircraft readiness.
โ๏ธ technical & diagnostic work
diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical malfunctions using testing equipment and manuals.
follow manufacturer and regulatory guidelines for maintenance tasks.
utilize specialized tools, precision instruments, and ground support equipment (gse).
coordinate with engineers to ensure accurate troubleshooting and defect clearance.
ensure calibration and care of maintenance tools and test instruments.

record all maintenance activities in job cards, logbooks, and technical documents.
update maintenance tracking systems (., amos, trax, ramco, or rusada envision).
ensure accurate documentation for all inspections, replacements, and modifications.
report component failures, delays, and discrepancies to supervisors or engineering teams.
maintain proper traceability of spares and materials used in maintenance.

comply with dgca / faa / easa / car-145 safety and maintenance standards.
adhere to company safety management systems (sms) and quality procedures.
follow proper lockout/tagout and hazardous materials handling procedures.
conduct work in accordance with approved maintenance data and aviation legislation.
ensure foreign object damage (fod) control and maintain a clean work environment.

work collaboratively with engineers, quality control inspectors, and flight operations teams.
assist in training junior technicians or apprentices on maintenance practices.
communicate effectively with supervisors regarding progress and issues.
support quick turnaround during aog (aircraft on ground) situations.
required skills & competencies
excellent technical and mechanical aptitude.
strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
proficiency in using hand tools, torque wrenches, and diagnostic equipment.
sound understanding of aviation maintenance manuals and documentation.
high level of attention to detail, accuracy, and discipline.
ability to work under pressure, at heights, and in outdoor conditions.
good communication and teamwork abilities.
educational qualification
diploma / degree in aircraft maintenance engineering (ame) or aeronautical engineering.
certification from an approved training organization (dgca / easa / faa part-147).
valid ame license in relevant category (b1 โ mechanical / b2 โ avionics) preferred.
experience
0โ5 years of experience in aircraft maintenance, repair, or overhaul (mro).
experience on specific aircraft types (., airbus a320, boeing 737, atr, embraer) is an advantage.
fresher candidates with dgca-approved ame training may also apply (for trainee roles).
working conditions
work performed in hangars, workshops, or ramp areas (day/night shifts).
may involve rotational shifts, weekends, and emergency standby duties.
physically demanding role requiring manual handling, climbing, and precision work.
