position overview
an aircraft engineer is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair, and certification of aircraft to ensure airworthiness and compliance with aviation safety regulations. the role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and adherence to strict safety standards, supporting both routine operations and unscheduled maintenance activities.
key responsibilities
maintenance & repair
perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, servicing, and repairs on aircraft systems, engines, structures, and components.
troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and avionics issues using diagnostic tools and technical manuals.
conduct pre-flight, transit, and post-flight inspections to ensure operational readiness.
carry out modifications, component replacements, and system upgrades as required.
safety & compliance
ensure all work is performed in compliance with aviation authority regulations (easa, faa, icao, dgca, etc.).
maintain accurate documentation, technical logs, and certification of completed tasks.
participate in audits, quality inspections, and safety management systems (sms).
follow strict safety and environmental guidelines in hangar and ramp operations.
operational support
coordinate with pilots, operations staff, and ground crew to resolve technical issues promptly.
support aircraft-on-ground (aog) recovery and provide rapid response maintenance.
contribute to maintenance planning and scheduling to optimize aircraft availability.
liaise with manufacturers and suppliers for parts, manuals, and engineering support.
required skills & competencies
in-depth knowledge of aircraft systems (avionics, engines, hydraulics, structures)
strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
proficiency with aircraft maintenance software (amos, trax, ramco, camp)
excellent technical documentation and reporting skills
high attention to detail and safety awareness
strong teamwork and communication skills
flexibility to work shifts, nights, weekends, and on-call duty
qualifications
bachelor’s degree in aerospace/aeronautical engineering or equivalent (preferred)
valid aircraft maintenance engineer (ame) license (easa part-66, faa a&p, or equivalent)
specialized type-rating or experience on specific aircraft models (., airbus, boeing)
minimum 2–5 years of aircraft maintenance or engineering experience (depending on role level)
certification in first aid, human factors, and safety management systems (advantageous)
