A Software tester should be capable of designing test suites and should have the ability to understand about the system (GUI or non-GUI human interactions) functional product aspects.. Such a tester is expected to have sound knowledge of software test design and test execution methodologies. They are involved in performing automated and manual tests to ensure the software created by developers is fit for purpose It is very important for a software tester to have great communication skills so that he can interact with the development team efficiently. Some of the duties include analysis of software, and systems, mitigate risk and prevent software issues. Analyzing users stories and use requirements cases for validity and feasibility Deriving test scenarios and carry out testing as per the defined procedures Creation of test designs , test processes , test cases and test data Execute all levels of testing (System, Integration, and Regression) Design and develop automation scripts when needed and Modifying test cases Configuration of Management planning and traceability metrics document preparation. Understanding the risk Analysis and Test Strategy implementation Detect and track software defects and inconsistencies Collaborate closely with other team members and departments Provide timely solutions based on the defect identified Software Tester is often responsible for creating test product documentation and also has to participate in testing related walk through.
