Role OverviewWe are looking for a seasoned Die Tooling professional to lead both Production Tooling and New Product Development (NPD) functions. This role demands strong technical depth, a process-driven mindset, and leadership capability to ensure robust tooling systems, high productivity, and seamless new product launches.The incumbent will be responsible for end-to-end tooling lifecycle management including design validation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, documentation, process standardization, and continuous improvement.Core Technical Competencies (Common for Both Roles) Extensive expertise in:o Plastic Moulding Toolso Sheet Metal Toolingso Precision Dies & Tooling Controlso Forging Dies Strong understanding of tool materials, heat treatment, GD&T, and tolerances Hands-on experience in tool trials, debugging, and process stabilization Knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality systems, and cost optimization Strong focus on process-driven tooling management and standardizationA. Die Tooling - ProductionKey Responsibilities Lead overall management of production dies, moulds, and fixtures Implement and drive preventive maintenance (PM) systems for all tooling to minimize breakdowns Handle troubleshooting and root cause analysis of tooling issues Ensure timely repair, refurbishment, and modification of tools Maintain high uptime through effective breakdown management and quick response systems Monitor and improve tool life, efficiency, and productivity Ensure proper die maintenance documentation including maintenance logs, breakdown records, PM checklists, tool history cards, and modification recordsProcess & System Orientation Coordinate with vendors for tool repair, modification, and development Develop and strengthen in-house tool room capabilities Evaluate vendor performance based on quality, cost, and delivery Ensure optimal balance between outsourced and in-house tooling activitiesB. Die Tooling - New Product Development (NPD)Key Responsibilities Lead tooling development for all new product initiatives from concept to SOP (Start of Production) Conduct feasibility analysis in coordination with design and engineering teams Oversee design validation, tool manufacturing, trials, and final approval Ensure smooth tool trials, debugging, and process stabilization Drive adherence to project timelines, quality benchmarks, and cost targets Support seamless handover from NPD to production Maintain complete tool development and validation documentation including design changes, trial reports, approval records, and lessons learned.

We are Hiring Mechanical Design Engineer (Experienced candidates only)Location - Changodar, AhmedabadRole OverviewAs an Experienced Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the mechanical design, development, and optimization of lighting fixtures and accessories. Youll work closely with cross-functional teams including optics, electronics, thermal, and manufacturing to deliver reliable, manufacturable, and visually appealing lighting products.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop lighting fixtures, housings, and mechanical components for indoor and outdoor applications.Create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks (preferred) or equivalent CAD software.Work on sheet metal, die-cast aluminum, extrusions, and plastic components with a focus on manufacturability and cost optimization.Integrate LED modules, PCBs, heatsinks, lenses, and drivers within mechanical designs ensuring thermal and structural stability.Perform thermal management design, tolerance analysis, and IP-rated enclosure design for dust/water resistance.Collaborate with vendors, toolmakers, and production teams for DFM/DFA reviews and product industrialization.Support prototype builds, testing, validation, and design iteration cycles.Ensure designs comply with relevant safety, quality, and performance standards (BIS, CE, RoHS, etc.).Maintain and update engineering documentation, including BOMs, test reports, and design change records.Provide technical input to new product introduction (NPI) and continuous improvement projects.QualificationsB.E./B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent discipline.28 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in the lighting, electrical, or consumer product industry.Proficient in SolidWorks / Creo / AutoCAD, and knowledge of PDM systems (SolidWorks PDM preferred).Strong understanding of material selection, manufacturing processes (sheet metal, die-casting, plastic injection, CNC machining).Knowledge of IP ratings, thermal design, and mechanical reliability testing.Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, PCB layouts, and optical drawings (added advantage).Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.interested candidates may share their CV at jobs.planetplacements@gmail.comThanks
