The Cargo Driver is responsible for safely transporting goods, materials, and packages between warehouses, airports, ports, and customer locations. This role ensures timely delivery, proper handling of cargo, vehicle maintenance, and compliance with all transport and safety regulations. The Cargo Driver represents the company in a professional manner and plays a vital role in the logistics and supply chain operations.Key Responsibilities: Transportation & DeliveryDrive company cargo vehicles to transport goods to assigned destinations.Ensure timely pickup and delivery of shipments as per schedule.Follow designated routes and use GPS or route maps efficiently.Load and unload goods safely to prevent damage.Verify delivery documents, invoices, and cargo lists before dispatch.Obtain customer signatures and update delivery confirmations.Coordinate with dispatchers and warehouse teams for delivery instructions. Cargo HandlingInspect cargo for damage, quantity, and accuracy during loading/unloading.Secure goods properly using ropes, straps, or other restraints.Handle different types of cargo (fragile, perishable, or hazardous materials) as per company safety procedures.Maintain cleanliness and order in the cargo compartment. Vehicle MaintenanceConduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections daily.Monitor fuel, oil, and fluid levels and report any mechanical issues immediately.Keep the vehicle clean, serviced, and in roadworthy condition.Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel consumption, and service logs.Report accidents, delays, or maintenance needs to the transport supervisor. Documentation & ComplianceMaintain accurate transport and delivery documentation.Ensure compliance with road safety rules, transport laws, and company policies.Complete delivery reports, trip sheets, and vehicle inspection checklists.Submit fuel receipts, toll slips, and related records regularly. Customer & Team InteractionCommunicate politely with clients, warehouse staff, and security personnel.Follow instructions from logistics or dispatch teams promptly.Represent the company professionally during all deliveries.Provide regular updates on delivery status and route progress.Required Skills & Competencies:Excellent driving and navigation skillsKnowledge of road safety and traffic lawsBasic mechanical and vehicle maintenance knowledgePhysical stamina and ability to lift or move goodsTime management and reliabilityHonest, disciplined, and safety-conscious attitudeBasic reading and writing ability for documentationCustomer service and communication skillsEducational Qualification:Minimum: 10th standard or equivalent.Additional training in logistics or driving safety preferred.Experience:05 years of experience as a commercial or cargo driver preferred.Experience in warehouse logistics or courier delivery is an advantage.License Requirement:Valid Commercial / Heavy Vehicle Driving License (LMV / HMV / Transport).Clean driving record with no major violations.Work Environment:Field-based role (local, regional, or inter-state deliveries).May require early morning, late night, or weekend shifts depending on operations.Coordination with warehouse, dispatch, and logistics teams.
