A Quality Control (QC) Manager in the sand casting industry is responsible for overseeing the entire quality process from raw material intake to final product shipment. They ensure that castings are free from defects such as porosity, shrinkage, or dimensional inaccuracies, while meeting industry standards (., ISO, IATF) and customer specifications.

Job Summary

The QC Manager leads the Quality Assurance and Control team, establishing procedures to monitor, analyze, and improve the quality of sand-cast products. They work closely with production, engineering, and metallurgy teams to reduce casting rejections, minimize the Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ), and improve overall customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

Process Monitoring & Control: Monitor, test, and control sand-casting processes (moulding, melting, pouring, and fettling) to ensure consistency and adherence to specifications.

Defect Analysis & Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Investigate casting defects (., blowholes, burn-on, erosion) to identify root causes and implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).

Inspection & Testing: Oversee incoming raw material inspection (sand, metal) and in-process/final inspections (dimensional, metallurgical lab testing, NDT methods like dye penetrant or magnetic particle).

Documentation & Compliance: Maintain, update, and audit the Quality Management System (QMS), specifically ensuring compliance with ISO 9001/IATF standards.

Customer & Supplier Interaction: Handle customer complaints, manage rejection data, and conduct supplier audits.

Team Leadership: Train, mentor, and manage a team of quality technicians and inspectors.

Continuous Improvement: Utilize 7 QC tools, SPC methods, and 5S principles to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
