role overview
the icu rmo is responsible for providing continuous medical care to critically ill patients, assisting consultants, and managing day-to-day icu operations in a structured hospital environment. the role demands clinical expertise, quick decision-making, and adherence to standardized protocols for patient safety and quality care.

key responsibilities
• monitor critically ill patients, assess vital signs, and promptly report clinical changes to icu consultants.
• initiate basic emergency interventions and support advanced life-saving procedures under supervision.
• assist in intubation, extubation, central line insertion, arterial line monitoring, and other icu procedures.
• manage ventilator settings, oxygen therapy, and infusion medications as per icu protocols.
• coordinate with nursing staff, perfusionists, and allied healthcare professionals for integrated patient care.
• document patient history, icu observations, interventions, and treatment plans accurately.
• participate in code blue, rapid response, and resuscitation efforts.
• review lab results, abg, ecg, and imaging reports to support clinical decision-making.
• ensure compliance with hospital safety, infection control, and quality protocols.
• liaise with patient families regarding care updates, treatment plans, and progress.
