A Surgical Instrument Design Engineer develops, validates, and optimizes surgical tools, implants, and manufacturing fixtures (jigs) using 3D CAD software (SolidWorks/NX). Key responsibilities include creating technical drawings, ensuring compliance with ISO /FDA standards, prototype testing, and designing for manufacturability (DFM) to enhance durability, functionality, and ease of use in clinical settings.

Key Responsibilities:

Design & Development: Create 2D drawings and 3D models of surgical instruments, tools, and fixtures using AutoCAD, NX, or SolidWorks.

DFM and Optimization: Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles to optimize production (., molding, welding, machining).

Regulatory Compliance: Ensure designs meet industry standards (., ISO , FDA) and create necessary technical documentation, including BOMs and inspection reports.

Testing & Prototyping: Build, test, and analyze prototypes, and utilize Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to ensure durability.

Collaboration: Collaborate with clinical specialists to understand user needs, observe clinical cases, and support manufacturing teams with tooling needs.

Continuous Improvement: Troubleshoot manufacturing defects, update designs, and improve functionality based on feedback.

Qualifications Required:

Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, Tool & Die, or related field.

Experience: 210 years in mechanical design, specifically within medical device, surgical instrument, or precision tool industries.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks, UG NX) and strong knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).

Materials Knowledge: Familiarity with materials such as titanium, stainless steel, or plastics used in medical devices.
