job description:
we are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented us corporate accounting and taxation specialist to join our team. the ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of corporate accounting principles and us tax regulations. while payroll experience is beneficial, our primary focus is on bookkeeping, preparing profit and loss (p&l) statements, and managing financial statements. this role includes ensuring compliance with quarterly and yearly state and federal tax filings.
key responsibilities:
1. tax compliance and reporting:
prepare and file quarterly and yearly state and federal tax returns.
ensure compliance with all tax regulations and guidelines.
manage tax audits and respond to inquiries from tax authorities.
maintain organised and detailed tax records and documentation
coordinate with hr to manage employee tax-related inquiries and concerns.
2. tax planning and strategy:
develop tax strategies to optimize the company’s tax position.
monitor changes in tax laws and regulations and advise on necessary adjustments.
provide tax-related guidance on business decisions and transactions.
ensure timely and accurate submission of all tax-related filings and reports
3. accounting integration:
collaborate with the accounting team to ensure accurate financial reporting.
assist in the preparation of financial statements and related disclosures.
reconcile tax accounts and ensure proper documentation of tax-related transactions.
4. financial statements:
compile comprehensive financial statements, including balance sheets and cash flow statements.
conduct financial analysis and reporting.
5. profit and loss (p&l) statements:
prepare and analyze profit and loss statements.
ensure accuracy and completeness of financial documentation.
6. bookkeeping:
maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
process accounts payable and receivable.
manage the general ledger and reconcile accounts.
7. payroll management:
oversee payroll processes to ensure compliance with tax withholding and reporting requirements.
address payroll-related tax issues and provide guidance on payroll tax matters.
qualifications:
bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (cpa or equivalent certification preferred).
minimum of 5 years of experience in us corporate taxation, with a solid background in accounting and payroll.
strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
proficiency in tax preparation and accounting software.
excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
effective communication and interpersonal skills.
preferred skills:
experience with tax planning and strategy in a corporate environment.
knowledge of payroll systems and processes.
ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
