Job Description

The Commis is responsible for assisting in food preparation, maintaining kitchen hygiene, and ensuring that all dishes are prepared according to the restaurant's quality and presentation standards. The role requires teamwork, discipline, and adherence to food safety guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare ingredients as per the daily production requirements.

Assist chefs in the preparation and cooking of food.

Maintain proper mise en place before service.

Follow standard recipes and portion control.

Ensure food is prepared and presented according to company standards.

Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the work area at all times.

Adhere to food safety, sanitation, and HACCP guidelines.

Properly store food items and label them as per FIFO/FEFO practices.

Minimize food wastage and handle raw materials efficiently.

Operate kitchen equipment safely and report any malfunctions.

Assist in receiving, checking, and storing deliveries.

Coordinate with the service team to ensure smooth kitchen operations.

Support the team during busy service periods.

Carry out any additional duties assigned by the Head Chef or Sous Chef.

Required Skills

Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques.

Understanding of kitchen hygiene and food safety practices.

Good knife skills and ingredient handling.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Team player with a positive attitude.

Good communication and willingness to learn.

Ability to work flexible shifts, weekends, and public holidays.

Qualifications

Diploma/Certificate in Hotel Management, Culinary Arts, or a related field (preferred).

Relevant experience in a hotel, restaurant, café, or cloud kitchen.
