Area Sales Manager

Role Summary
The Area Sales Manager will be responsible for driving sales from government departments, PSUs, and institutional customers through direct engagement, tenders, and rate contracts. The role includes end to end tender management, key account relationship handling, and achievement of sales and collection targets in the assigned territory.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and grow business with government departments, PSUs, semi government bodies, and institutional clients (hospitals, schools, large corporates, etc.) in the assigned area.
- Identify relevant tenders/RFPs/RFQs on GeM, CPPP, e tendering and state portals; drive end to end tender lifecycle (tracking, documentation, bid preparation, submission, follow ups).
- Coordinate with internal teams (technical, finance, commercial, logistics, legal) for techno commercial offers, compliance documents, pricing approvals and clarifications.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision makers, procurement officers, and influencers in government and institutional accounts to drive repeat and referral business.
- Achieve monthly/quarterly sales, margin and collection targets from institutional and government segment in the allocated geography.
- Track competitor activities, pricing and tender participation; provide market intelligence and suggest strategies to improve win rates and account penetration.
- Ensure timely order execution, coordination for dispatches, installation (if applicable) and payment collections in line with contract terms and government norms.
- Maintain accurate MIS of tenders, enquiry pipeline, order status and collections; share periodic reports and forecasts with regional/head office.
- Represent the company in government/PSU meetings, vendor registrations, trade shows and industry events to enhance visibility in institutional segment.

Required Skills & Qualifications
- Graduate in any discipline; MBA in Marketing / Sales preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in institutional / government / project / tender sales with proven track record of closing large value deals.
- Strong understanding of government procurement processes, e tendering, GeM portal, rate contracts and related documentation/compliance.
- Excellent relationship building, negotiation and presentation skills with ability to manage multiple stakeholders and long sales cycles.
- Good commercial acumen, pricing understanding and basic contract knowledge.
- Proficiency in MS Office and experience in using CRM / sales reporting tools.
