position overview
an aircraft mechanic is responsible for maintaining, inspecting, repairing, and servicing aircraft to ensure they remain airworthy, safe, and compliant with aviation standards. the role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and adherence to aviation safety regulations set by dgca, easa, or faa authorities. aircraft mechanics play a critical role in ensuring flight safety and operational efficiency.
key responsibilities
⚙️ 1. maintenance & repair
perform routine, scheduled, and unscheduled maintenance on aircraft, engines, and components.
conduct inspections, adjustments, and replacements of defective parts and systems.
carry out a-checks, b-checks, and assist in heavy maintenance (c and d checks) under supervision.
diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues using approved manuals and diagnostic tools.
install, align, balance, and test mechanical assemblies, systems, and parts.
✈️ 2. aircraft inspection & servicing
conduct pre-flight and post-flight inspections to verify aircraft readiness.
check systems including landing gear, brakes, flight controls, and fuel systems.
test repaired systems to ensure functionality and compliance with technical specifications.
record discrepancies and corrective actions taken in maintenance logs.

maintain accurate maintenance records, service bulletins, and inspection reports.
follow manufacturer manuals (amm, ipc, srm) and company maintenance programs.
complete job cards, work orders, and compliance checklists as per aviation authority guidelines.
update electronic maintenance management systems (amos, trax, ramco, etc.).
🔒 4. safety & compliance
adhere strictly to dgca, easa, or faa maintenance regulations and safety standards.
follow standard operating procedures (sops), company quality manuals, and safety protocols.
ensure proper use and control of tools and equipment to prevent foreign object damage (fod).
report potential hazards, unsafe practices, or non-compliance issues immediately.
participate in safety audits, training sessions, and quality control inspections.
🧠 5. troubleshooting & problem solving
identify faults through systematic troubleshooting methods.
recommend repairs, replacements, or modifications as needed.
collaborate with senior engineers and maintenance planners to resolve complex technical issues.
👥 6. teamwork & coordination
work closely with aircraft engineers, technicians, quality inspectors, and flight operations teams.
coordinate with logistics and parts departments for required components or consumables.
support other maintenance team members during aircraft turnaround or heavy checks.
skills & competencies
in-depth knowledge of aircraft systems, structures, engines, and avionics
strong understanding of maintenance procedures and aviation safety standards
skilled in troubleshooting, inspection, and technical documentation
familiarity with dgca/easa/faa regulatory requirements
proficiency in maintenance management software (amos, trax, ramco, etc.)
good communication, teamwork, and time management skills
high attention to detail and accuracy
educational qualification
diploma or degree in aircraft maintenance engineering (ame) or aeronautical engineering
dgca/easa/faa license (b1 mechanical or b2 avionics) preferred
additional certification in specific aircraft types (., airbus, boeing, atr) is an advantage
experience
0–5 years of experience in aircraft maintenance, repair, or overhaul (mro environment)
fresh graduates with ame training and dgca modules cleared may apply for trainee positions
work environment
based at airline hangars, mro facilities, or airport maintenance bases
shift-based work, including nights, weekends, and holidays
physically demanding role involving lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces
