Job Summary:The Field Engineer FTTH is responsible for the on-site installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of fiber optic network infrastructure at customer premises and within the field network. This role plays a key part in ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of FTTH services.Key Responsibilities:1. Installation & Commissioning Install fiber optic cables, ONTs (Optical Network Terminals), splitters, and other equipment at customer premises. Perform splicing and termination of fiber cables, ensuring low loss and proper signal flow. Conduct OTDR and power meter tests to verify and certify installation quality.2. Fault Diagnosis & Repair Identify and troubleshoot faults in the fiber network (both at the customer end and in the field). Resolve physical connectivity issues, hardware failures, and signal loss problems. Perform emergency repairs and service restoration with minimal downtime.3. Site Surveys Conduct site surveys for new connections to assess feasibility, cable routing, and material requirements. Coordinate with customers to finalize installation plans based on site conditions.4. Customer Interaction Provide technical support and guidance to customers during and after installation. Explain basic FTTH equipment operation and service usage to end-users. Handle customer complaints or escalations professionally and efficiently.5. Documentation & Reporting Maintain records of installation details, service calls, test results, and material usage. Prepare daily reports and submit updates to supervisors or management.6. Equipment Handling Safely handle and transport FTTH tools, splicing machines, OTDRs, ladders, and fiber reels. Ensure proper use and maintenance of all field equipment.Required Skills & Qualifications: Diploma/ITI in Electronics, Electrical, Telecommunications, or a related field. 13 years of experience in FTTH network installations and field operations (freshers with training can be considered). Hands-on experience with fiber splicing, OTDR testing, and optical power measurement tools. Understanding of GPON technology and FTTH network architecture. Ability to work independently and manage tasks in the field. Strong communication and customer service skills. Willingness to travel and work flexible hours as needed.Preferred Certifications (Optional): FTTH Council Certified Installer or equivalent Basic safety training or fiber handling certification
