Their primary goal is to ensure cost-effective, high-quality, and dimensionally accurate metal castings.Key ResponsibilitiesProcess Design & Optimization: Design gating, risering, and venting systems for sand molds to ensure proper metal flow and solidification.Sand Management: Monitor and adjust sand properties (e.g., green sand compactibility, permeability, moisture, and mold hardness) to prevent gas defects and sand erosion.Pattern & Core Development: Supervise pattern mounting, core-making, and assembly processes to maintain exact dimensional tolerances.Defect Analysis & Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve casting defects like shrinkage, porosity, sand inclusions, and misruns. Implement corrective actions and refine process parameters.Equipment Oversight: Set up, calibrate, and maintain automated and semi-automated molding machines (e.g., jolt-squeeze, flaskless molding)
