Key Responsibilities Server Management and Configuration: Install, configure, and maintain windows based in premises servers, laptops, Linux-based servers (e.g., Rocky) within Azure PaaS, including virtual machines. Manage 20-30 servers across production (10), staging, and test setups, ensuring seamless deployment and scaling. Knowledge of App Services, and containerized environments, scripting in Linux is added advantage. Network Administration and Configuration: Design, set up, and configure network infrastructure in premises and Azure, including Virtual Networks (VNets), subnets, Network Security Groups (NSGs), and Azure Load Balancer. Implement and manage VPNs, ExpressRoute, and peering for secure connectivity between on-premises and cloud environments. Ensure optimal network performance and scalability. Database Administration: Administer MariaDB databases hosted on Azure, including setup, performance tuning, query optimization, and user access management. Implement and manage native Azure backups for data integrity and quick recovery. Security and Firewall Management: Configure and maintain firewalls using Fortigate, Azure and opensource Firewalls, Network Security Groups (NSGs), and other security tools. Implement security measures such as intrusion detection, vulnerability scanning, and compliance with standard ISO 27001 to protect sensitive data. Monitoring and Performance Optimization: Set up and utilize monitoring tools like Zabbix, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights to track system performance, resource utilization, and alerts. Analyse logs, detect issues proactively, and optimize for high availability across all environments. Monitor network traffic, latency, and performance metrics. Analyse network logs, detect bottlenecks, and implement optimizations to ensure high availability and low latency for production and non-production environments. Backup and Disaster Recovery: Implement native, DB back-up solutions [Ex: DB dump, LSN based etc] Azure backup solutions for automated backups, restoration processes, and disaster recovery planning. Ensure regular testing of backups for production, staging, and test servers to maintain business continuity. Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, networking, and database issues. Apply patches, updates, and security fixes to Linux systems, apachi, etc. Perform routine maintenance to prevent downtime. User and Access Management: Manage user accounts, permissions, and role-based access controls (RBAC) in Azure and Linux environments. Collaborate with development and operations teams to support deployments and integrations. Documentation and Compliance: Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, procedures, and processes. Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and best practices for cloud security and data management. Collaboration and Innovation: Work with IT teams to deploy new solutions, automate tasks using scripting, and integrate with tools Required Qualifications and Skills Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Experience: 3+ years of experience as a Linux System Administrator, with at least 2 years in Azure cloud environments. Proven track record managing multiple servers (20+), including production, staging, and test setups. Hands-on experience with MariaDB or similar databases (e.g., MySQL). Technical Skills: o Proficiency in Linux distributions (e.g., Rocky) and command-line tools.o Strong knowledge of Azure PaaS services, including Virtual Machines, App Services, MariaDB, express route, VPN, Azure Firewall, and Azure Monitor.o Experience with firewall configuration, network security, and monitoring tools.o Familiarity with backup solutions like Azure Backup and database management (SQL queries, performance tuning).o Scripting skills in Bash, Python, or Perl for automation. Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and the capacity to work independently or in a team. Strong communication skills for collaborating with stakeholders. Should be willing to work non-office hours whenever required.
