Role DescriptionWe are seeking a Leather Technologist with a formal degree in Leather Technology or hands-on experience in leather finishing. This role will focus on surface treatments, coatings, performance enhancement, and process optimization for our plant-based leather sheets.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and optimise finishing formulations (water-based PU, bio-based coatings, pigments, additives)Work on surface performance: abrasion, flex, colour fastness, cleanabilityHandle coating, spraying, printing, embossing, and colouring processesTranslate traditional leather finishing knowledge to plant-based substratesConduct and interpret mechanical & chemical tests (BIS / ISO standards)Support sampling, trials, and scale-up to commercial productionMaintain SOPs, test reports, and technical documentationCollaborate with production and R&D teams to improve consistency and qualityRequired Qualifications & SkillsStrong knowledge of leather finishing chemistry and processesHands-on experience with PU coatings, water-based systems, pigments, and additivesFamiliarity with leather testing methods and standardsAbility to troubleshoot finishing defects and performance issuesPreferred ExperienceExperience in synthetic leather or coated fabricsExposure to bags, footwear, upholstery, or automotive leatherUnderstanding of sustainability and low-impact finishing systemsWhy Join UsApply your leather finishing expertise to next-generation biomaterialsWork in a hands-on, innovation-led environmentBe part of a company shaping the future of sustainable materialsInterested candidates can send their resume to hello@leafyleather.com
