the x-ray technician is responsible for performing diagnostic imaging procedures, ensuring accurate image acquisition, patient safety, and compliance with structured hospital protocols. the role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and coordination with the clinical team for effective patient care.

key responsibilities

perform diagnostic x-ray imaging as per physician requests, including portable and routine x-rays.

prepare patients for imaging, explaining procedures and ensuring proper positioning for accurate results.

operate x-ray equipment, maintain optimal imaging parameters, and ensure image quality.

follow radiation safety protocols for patients, staff, and self, adhering to hospital standards.

assist radiologists and physicians during imaging procedures and minor interventions.

maintain and calibrate x-ray machines, detectors, and associated imaging equipment.

document patient information, imaging details, and maintain accurate records in his/emr.

ensure compliance with infection control, hygiene, and hospital safety protocols.

monitor inventory of radiology consumables and notify supervisors for replenishment.

participate in quality assurance programs, equipment audits, and safety drills.

support emergency imaging requirements in icu, ot, and casualty departments.

key skills & competencies

proficiency in operating x-ray machines, portable imaging devices, and digital radiography systems.

knowledge of anatomy, positioning techniques, and radiographic imaging standards.

understanding of radiation safety and alara principles.

ability to coordinate with doctors, nurses, and other hospital staff.

attention to detail, technical precision, and patient care orientation.
