Job Description
Duties:
Toolroom Operational Leadership & Resource Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the toolroom division, delegating duties to technicians, toolmakers, and CNC operators to guarantee prompt completion of mould manufacture, repairs, and changes.
Preventive Maintenance & Mould Life Cycle Strategy: To optimise tool life and operational uptime, create, implement, and audit thorough Preventive Maintenance plans for all multi-cavity, hot runner, and specialty injection moulds.
Mould Breakdown Root-Cause Analysis & Repair Oversight: Oversee technical investigations into recurrent mould failures and moulding flaws, resulting in long-term engineering solutions and tool adjustments.
Toolroom Inventory, Procurement, and Budget Management: Keep an eye on the inventory of spare parts and handle vendor relations for tooling procurement, specialised machining, and toolroom consumables.
Validate tool dimensions, examine CAD/CAM tooling design modifications, supervise blue-matching checks, and approve finished moulds before sending them to production as part of quality assurance and tooling design approval.
Focus Skills:
Thorough Injection Mould Architecture & Tool Design: Proficient understanding of intricate injection mould construction.
Leadership in Precision Machining and Toolroom Equipment: Proficient in CNC milling, EDM spark erosion, wire EDM, surface/cylindrical grinding, lathe operations, and laser welding technologies.
Strategic Maintenance Planning & Root-Cause Analysis: Demonstrated capacity to carry out corrective/preventative actions (CAPA), analyse tool failure modes (FMEA), and conduct total productive maintenance (TPM) in toolrooms.
Team Leadership & Vendor Negotiation: Excellent leadership abilities to oversee a group of engineers and toolmakers, as well as excellent vendor management abilities to contract out specialised machining and raw materials.
