Job Summary
We are seeking a seasoned State Head - Gujarat to lead and scale our agribusiness operations across the state. The role involves end-to-end ownership of revenue, team leadership, channel development, market expansion, and execution of strategic sales initiatives for high-tech horticulture and irrigation solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Business Leadership
- Own the P&L, revenue targets, and growth strategy for Gujarat.
- Develop and execute the state-level sales and marketing strategy aligned with organizational goals.
- Prepare annual operating plans, sales forecasts, and budgets for the state.
- Identify new growth opportunities, crops, regions, and product-market fit.
Sales & Market Expansion
- Drive direct-to-farmer, dealer, and institutional sales across Gujarat.
- Expand presence in high-value horticulture belts and controlled cultivation segments.
- Lead large key accounts, government projects, FPOs, and agri-institutions.
- Track competitor activity, pricing strategies, and market trends to stay ahead.
Team Leadership & Capability Building
- Build, lead, and mentor regional/territory sales teams.
- Set targets, KPIs, and performance metrics for the state sales team.
- Coach teams on farmer engagement, solution selling, and technology adoption.
- Ensure high productivity, discipline, and motivation across the team.
Channel & Partner Management
- Appoint, develop, and manage dealers, distributors, and channel partners.
- Strengthen relationships with nurseries, agronomists, consultants, and influencers.
- Ensure effective channel coverage, visibility, and execution in all districts.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work closely with marketing, service, supply chain, and product teams to ensure smooth execution.
- Ensure timely installations, after-sales service, and customer satisfaction.
- Provide structured market feedback to product and leadership teams.
Reporting & Governance
- Review and present state-level sales reports, forecasts, and MIS.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, processes, and ethical standards.
- Represent the company-s vision, values, and brand image in the market.
Skills & Experience Required
- 5+ years of experience in agribusiness sales & marketing, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong exposure to one or more of the following:
o High-tech horticulture solutions
o Controlled cultivation (greenhouse / net house / shade net)
o Micro-irrigation (drip / sprinkler)
o Fertigation systems, sensors, automation
o Agri-inputs (insecticides, pesticides, specialty nutrients)
- Proven experience in direct-to-farmer sales and channel-led models.
- Deep understanding of the Gujarati agri-market, crop patterns, farmer behaviour, and geography.
- Strong business acumen, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Tech-savvy mindset with the ability to leverage digital tools for sales and service.
- Willingness to travel extensively across the state.
Educational Qualification
- Graduation in Agriculture / Agribusiness / Horticulture preferred.
- MBA or Post-Graduation in Sales/Marketing will be an added advantage.
- Exceptional industry experience may substitute formal education.
