role overview
the ward rmo is responsible for providing continuous medical supervision to admitted patients, supporting consultants, and coordinating with nursing staff to ensure quality inpatient care. the role requires clinical knowledge, patient management skills, and adherence to hospital protocols.

key responsibilities
• monitor and assess ward patients, including vital signs, clinical status, and response to treatment.
• manage day-to-day medical care of admitted patients under consultant supervision.
• assist in procedures such as iv cannulation, catheterization, basic wound care, and emergency interventions.
• review lab results, imaging, and reports to guide treatment decisions.
• coordinate with nursing staff, allied health professionals, and consultants for integrated patient care.
• document patient history, observations, interventions, and discharge summaries accurately.
• respond promptly to emergencies within the ward and escalate to consultants as required.
• educate patients and families about treatment plans, medications, and post-discharge care.
• ensure compliance with hospital safety, infection control, and quality standards.
• support audits, clinical rounds, and quality improvement initiatives.
