Position Details
• Position Title: Quality Engineer
• Location: Khopoli - Pali Road

• Reports To: Assistant Sourcing Manager and Functionally to Assistant Customer Service Manager
• Employment Type: Full-time
Location Preference
• Candidates residing in the Navi Mumbai or Khopoli region will be preferred or should be willing to relocate.
Role Overview
• The Quality Engineer will ensure that all manufactured machines, assemblies, and spare parts meet in‑house drawing specifications and meet customer expectations. The role involves supplier quality improvement, shop-floor quality control, interpretation of OEM Belgium drawings.
• The engineer will coordinate closely with sourcing, production, and customer service teams, including handling quality or delivery risks related to new suppliers and ongoing orders. The role also includes supporting reliability analysis through run life calculations and Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) evaluation for critical parts and complete machines, along with driving root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
Work Distribution
• 60% Supplier Quality & Supplier Visits (initial phase)
• 40% Shop Floor Quality at Khopoli
• Note: This ratio will gradually shift toward more shop‑floor focus as suppliers stabilize and the Khopoli factory becomes fully operational.
Supplier Quality
• Conduct supplier evaluations, capability assessments, and audits.
• Work with suppliers to improve machining quality and implement robust process controls.
• Ensure suppliers correctly interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerances, and material standards.
• Support suppliers in scaling up quality for complex, high-precision components.
Typical QC Scope (Parts & Machines)
• Perform QC on machined parts such as tool holders, die holders, shafts, bushes, plates, brackets, fabricated assemblies, and other components related to group company enquiries.
• Understand machining processes including CNC Turning, CNC Milling, VMC/HMC, grinding, fabrication, bending, laser cutting, wire-cut EDM, etc.
• Evaluate secondary processes such as heat treatment, hardening, stress relieving, surface finishing, and other value-adding operations.
Quality Management & Compliance
• Implement and maintain QA procedures, documentation, and reporting systems.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, IATF , ISO , and customer standards.
• Maintain control plans, PFMEA, work instructions, and inspection documents.
• Support customer audits, internal audits, and compliance reviews.
Inspection & Testing
• Conduct incoming, in‑process, and final inspections
• Use precision measurement instruments such as height gauge, vernier caliper, micrometer, bore gauge, and dial indicators.
• Verify material grades as per EN and IS standards.
• Analyze inspection trends to determine deviations and corrective actions.
OEM Drawing Understanding & Technical Communication
• Extract key technical details from OEM Belgium drawings (GD&T, tolerances, fitment requirements).
• Coordinate with OEM engineering teams for clarifications.
• Recommend design modifications for cost reduction and enhanced manufacturability.
• Communicate technical requirements clearly to suppliers and internal teams.
Root Cause Analysis & Problem Solving
• Apply structured methodologies such as 5 Why, Fishbone Diagram, 8D, and DMAIC.
• Lead cross‑functional teams to address quality issues.
• Drive implementation and verification of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Continuous Improvement
• Support lean manufacturing and waste‑reduction initiatives.
• Identify process capability improvement opportunities.
• Participate in capability studies including Cp, Cpk, MSA, and GRR.
Qualifications & Requirements
• Degree in Mechanical, Production, or Industrial Engineering.
• 2-5 years’ experience in machining quality, supplier quality, or manufacturing QC.
• Strong knowledge of machining processes (CNC, VMC, fabrication, grinding).
• Hands‑on experience with APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, 8D.
• Proficient with precision measuring instruments.
• Strong understanding of EN & IS material standards.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings with GD&T.
• Strong communication skills for interaction with OEM Belgium.
• Experience with QMS/ERP systems is an advantage.
