Hiring For Pump Operator

About the Role

InstaCrete, a ready-mix concrete supplier operating in Malawi, is seeking an experienced Concrete Boom Pump Operator to operate and maintain truck-mounted concrete boom pumps. Candidates must have practical experience operating Putzmeister and Sany concrete pumps and previous overseas work experience, preferably in Africa.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate truck-mounted concrete boom pumps, including boom positioning, remote control and pumping controls.

• Assess site access, ground conditions, outrigger support, overhead obstructions and safe working clearances before setting up.

• Coordinate with mixer drivers and site teams to maintain safe and consistent concrete placement.

• Carry out pre-start inspections, pipeline priming, pump cleaning and end-of-shift checks.

• Identify pumping problems and respond safely to blockages, following pressure-release and isolation procedures.

• Inspect delivery pipes, hoses, clamps, seals and wear components, and report defects promptly.

• Carry out routine lubrication and basic preventive maintenance, and assist mechanics with repairs.

• Maintain operating records and keep the pump and truck clean and ready for use.

• Assist with stores, stock records and other plant or yard duties as assigned when not engaged in pumping operations.

 

Candidate Requirements

• Proven experience independently operating truck-mounted concrete boom pumps.

• Hands-on operating experience with Putzmeister and Sany pumps.

• Previous overseas employment experience; African experience preferred.

• Sound knowledge of safe pump setup, outrigger deployment, pipeline handling and concrete pumping procedures.

• Ability to recognise routine hydraulic, mechanical and electrical faults and report them accurately.

• Ability to communicate in English and coordinate effectively with drivers and site personnel.

• Relevant operator training or certification would be an advantage.

• A valid heavy vehicle driving licence and experience driving pump trucks would be an advantage.
