job summary:

the ot technician is responsible for ensuring the smooth functioning of the operation theatre by maintaining a sterile environment, managing surgical instruments and equipment, assisting surgeons during procedures, and ensuring patient safety. the role requires strict adherence to infection control protocols, hospital standards, and efficient coordination with medical and support staff.

key responsibilities:

prepare and maintain a sterile, safe, and functional ot environment.

sterilize, arrange, and manage surgical instruments and consumables.

assist surgeons and nursing staff during routine and complex surgical procedures.

monitor patient safety, support anesthetic procedures, and ensure smooth workflow during operations.

maintain and operate surgical equipment, ensuring proper functionality and safety.

implement and follow strict infection control and hospital protocols.

manage ot inventory, track usage, and coordinate timely availability of instruments and supplies.

maintain records of procedures, equipment maintenance, and ot schedules.

support continuous improvement initiatives in ot practices and patient care.

qualification & experience:

diploma or certificate in operation theatre technology (ot tech) or related allied health program.

12 years experience in hospital ot preferred; freshers with relevant training can apply.

knowledge of sterilization techniques, surgical instruments, infection control, and patient care protocols.
