Mechanical Maintenance Head in Metallurgy

Mechanical Maintenance Head is responsible for ensuring the maximum uptime, reliability, and safety of all mechanical equipment in a nickel alloys manufacturing plant. This role involves leading a team of engineers and technicians to execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance. Because nickel alloy production involves high-temperature melting, complex hot/cold rolling, and aggressive chemical processing, the ideal candidate must have deep expertise in heavy metallurgical machinery and asset management.

Operations & Maintenance Management

• Equipment Reliability: Maximize the availability of critical metallurgical assets including electric arc furnaces (EAF), vacuum induction melting (VIM) furnaces, hot/cold rolling mills, extrusion presses, and heat treatment lines.

• Maintenance Strategy: Develop, implement, and optimize Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Predictive Maintenance (PdM) schedules using vibration analysis, thermography, and oil analysis.

• Breakdown Resolution: Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for major mechanical failures and implement permanent engineering solutions to prevent recurrence.

• Utility Management: Oversee heavy utility equipment including high-pressure hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, cooling water towers, and industrial gas distribution networks.

📈 Team Leadership & Safety

• Resource Management: Supervise, mentor, and evaluate a team of mechanical maintenance engineers, supervisors, and technicians.

• Safety & Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols (LOTO, confined space entry, hot work permits) considering the high-risk environment of alloy manufacturing.

• Contractor Management: Oversee third-party vendors and contractors during routine operations and major annual shutdowns.

💰 Budgeting & Materials Control

• OPEX & CAPEX: Prepare and manage the annual mechanical maintenance budget, driving cost-optimization initiatives.

• Spare Parts Management: Establish inventory controls for critical, long-lead mechanical spares (., mill rolls, heavy-duty gearboxes, specialized bearings) to minimize downtime.
