a mechanical maintenance engineer in a foundry maintains, repairs, and troubleshoots mechanical systems and specialized foundry equipment, such as furnaces, molding machines, and conveyors, to ensure operational efficiency and minimize downtime. key responsibilities include developing and executing preventive maintenance schedules, diagnosing and resolving mechanical failures, managing spare parts, overseeing equipment installation, and ensuring all work complies with safety and quality standards.

key responsibilities

maintenance & repairs: perform routine and corrective maintenance on foundry equipment, including furnaces, molding machines, conveyors, cranes, and hydraulic systems.

troubleshooting: diagnose and resolve mechanical issues and equipment failures to prevent production delays.

preventive maintenance: implement and manage preventive maintenance programs to ensure equipment reliability and longevity.

equipment management: oversee the installation, commissioning, and servicing of new and existing machinery.

spare parts: manage spare parts inventory to ensure availability for timely repairs.

safety & compliance: ensure all maintenance activities adhere to strict safety regulations and quality standards.

reporting: document maintenance activities, equipment performance, and issues.

collaboration: work with other engineering teams and departments to improve operational efficiency and processes.

essential skills and qualifications

technical expertise: strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and other relevant machinery found in a foundry.

troubleshooting skills: excellent problem-solving abilities to quickly diagnose and fix equipment malfunctions.

safety awareness: a strong understanding of workplace safety protocols and standards within a foundry environment.

communication: ability to communicate effectively with team members, technicians, and other departments.
