Iron Ore Manager (17-27 Years)

Department: Raw Materials / Iron Ore Procurement

Reports to: Procurement Head / Plant Head

Job objective: Manage iron ore sourcing, procurement, quality, inventory, and supply continuity while controlling landed cost and material losses.

Key responsibilities

1. Identify and evaluate iron ore suppliers, mines, traders, and sourcing opportunities.

2. Coordinate procurement plans according to production requirements and stock levels.

3. Evaluate ore quality based on Fe content, moisture, size distribution, and impurity levels.

4. Review laboratory reports and ensure compliance with approved material specifications.

5. Negotiate pricing, freight, supply terms, and delivery schedules.

6. Coordinate sampling, weighment, receipt, inspection, and quality acceptance.

7. Monitor stockyard inventory, material movement, and reconciliation of physical versus recorded stock.

8. Track supplier performance, quality variations, delivery delays, and claims.

9. Ensure procurement and transportation documentation is complete and compliant.

10. Prepare cost, stock, consumption, and supplier-performance reports for management.

Qualifications and experience

- Degree or diploma in Mining, Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, Commerce, or a relevant field.

- Typically 5-10 years of experience in iron ore procurement, raw materials, mining operations, or bulk commodities.

- Knowledge of iron ore grades, sampling, quality assessment, stockyard management, and supplier negotiations.

- Strong commercial, analytical, and coordination skills.

KPIs: Procurement cost per tonne, quality acceptance rate, supply continuity, inventory accuracy, and material loss control.
