Key Responsibilities
Reading Blueprints: Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and project specifications to understand the required dimensions and layout.
Assembly & Fabrication: Cut, shape, drill, and assemble metal parts and structural components using specialized machinery and tools.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform routine maintenance on machinery, diagnose faults, and repair or replace defective components to minimize downtime.
Quality Control: Use precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, rulers) to verify that finished parts and assemblies meet exact tolerances.
Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to workplace health and safety (OHS/HSE) regulations, maintaining a clean and secure work environment at all times.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
Technical Proficiency: Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience using power tools, welding equipment, and cutting/drilling tools.
Attention to Detail: High precision in reading blueprints and executing measurements to ensure perfect alignment and fit.
Education & Training: Typically requires a formal vocational qualification, such as an ITI (Industrial Training Institute) certificate in the fitter trade, or a relevant apprenticeship.
