Fiber Optic Technician

A Fiber Optics technician is responsible for installing, preparing, splicing and troubleshooting fiber optic cables. The Fiber Technician’s job involves fiber termination work in large to multi-story office buildings to small housing buildings. The primary functions of the Fiber Technician include:

• Resolve, repair and install fiber optics systems and ensure that they work properly

• Fiber cabling routing and replace faulty with new cable

• Splicing, testing, and troubleshooting of fiber sites and links

• Documenting and reporting on work completed

• Take care of fiber splicing and rectify fiber optic problems

• Ensure that fiber optic system does not destabilize its performance

• Execute premises cabling and connect to end customer
