Job Description

An Engine Cadet on a ship is an apprentice, or trainee, seafarer who is at the very start of his or her career in the maritime industry. They are simultaneously onboard to work and to learn so that they can progress through the various seafarer ranks found in the engine room of a vessel.

Cadet Responsibilities:

Attending all training nights, training activities, events and parades.

Keeping informed on current and upcoming activities.

Taking part in fund raising activities.

Taking care of the uniform.

Paperwork, paperwork, paperwork.

Engine Cadet Job Requirements:

Completion of a four year Maritime Engineering program OR current enrollment in an accredited Maritime Engineering program. National License (STCW III/1) and valid medical certificate. Excellent verbal and written command of the English language.
