Role Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Sheet Metal and Casting Design Engineer to join our engineering team at a renowned multinational corporation (MNC) located in Pune. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing sheet metal and casting components for a variety of applications, including automotive, industrial, and aerospace sectors. In this onsite role, you will work on innovative and high-quality design projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop cost-effective and efficient manufacturing solutions. Roles & Responsibilities:
Sheet Metal Design: Design and develop sheet metal components, assemblies, and structures, ensuring they meet project specifications, cost constraints, and manufacturability requirements.
Casting Design: Create casting designs for components, including the selection of appropriate materials, casting processes (., sand casting, die casting), and consideration of features such as draft angles and risers.
3D Modelling & 2D Drafting: Utilize CAD software (., CREO, CATIA, AutoCAD) to create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings for sheet metal and casting components, ensuring accuracy and manufacturability.
Design Optimization: Analyze designs for manufacturability, strength, and cost optimization while meeting industry standards and client requirements.
Material Selection: Select appropriate materials for sheet metal and casting components based on mechanical properties, durability, and application-specific needs.
Collaboration & Technical Support: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality assurance, and suppliers, to resolve design-related challenges and ensure designs can be easily produced.
Prototyping & Testing: Collaborate with the testing team to create prototypes, verify designs, and perform simulations to assess the functionality and durability of sheet metal and casting components.
Change Management: Manage design changes and updates in PLM systems (., Windchill), ensuring proper documentation, version control, and communication across teams.
Process Documentation: Prepare and maintain design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and BOM (Bill of Materials) for internal and external stakeholders.
Quality Assurance: Ensure that all designs adhere to applicable quality and safety standards, including industry-specific guidelines and regulations.
Qualifications:
Educational Qualification:
Diploma or BE/ in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from a recognized institution.
Skills & Experience:
Experience: Minimum to 6 years of relevant experience in sheet metal and casting design, preferably in the automotive, industrial, or aerospace sectors.
CAD Proficiency: Strong experience with CAD tools such as CREO, CATIA, AutoCAD, or similar software for designing sheet metal and casting components.
Mechanical Design Knowledge: Solid understanding of sheet metal processes (., bending, stamping, welding) and casting processes (., sand casting, die casting).
Manufacturing Process Knowledge: Familiarity with the production techniques and challenges associated with sheet metal and casting components, such as tolerances, tooling, and assembly.
Analytical Skills: Ability to perform design analysis, including stress, strain, and fatigue calculations, to ensure the performance and durability of components.
Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with cross-functional teams, vendors, and clients.
Good to Have:
Knowledge of industry standards related to sheet metal and casting design (., ISO, ASTM).
Experience with simulation tools (., FEA, CFD) for design validation.
Previous experience in automotive or aerospace industries, particularly in casting and sheet metal components.
