overview
the aircraft maintenance department is responsible for ensuring the airworthiness, safety, and operational reliability of an airline’s fleet. the department performs routine maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on aircraft systems and components in compliance with aviation regulations and manufacturer guidelines. the team ensures that aircraft are maintained to the highest safety and operational standards, supporting on-time flight operations.
key responsibilities
🛠️ maintenance & repairs
perform scheduled (line and base) maintenance, inspections, and preventive checks.
troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and avionics systems.
repair or replace defective aircraft components in accordance with manufacturer manuals.
conduct engine checks, landing gear maintenance, and structural inspections.
maintain aircraft interiors, including seating, cabin systems, and emergency equipment.
📋 documentation & compliance
maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, defects, and repairs.
ensure compliance with aviation regulations (dgca, faa, easa, etc.) and airline sops.
prepare reports for regulatory audits and inspections.
ensure proper documentation of part replacements and maintenance logs.
💡 safety & quality assurance
monitor aircraft systems for potential issues and perform proactive maintenance.
ensure adherence to all safety, health, and environmental regulations.
participate in safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
report hazards, non-conformances, or technical issues promptly.
🧩 team coordination
coordinate with flight operations, ground staff, and technical control teams.
assist engineers and technicians during troubleshooting or major repairs.
support training and mentoring of junior maintenance staff.
⚙️ technical & operational support
perform software updates and troubleshooting for avionics and onboard systems.
test aircraft systems to verify proper functioning after maintenance.
recommend improvements in maintenance procedures and processes.
manage spare parts inventory, tools, and equipment for maintenance operations.

experience
entry level: freshers with relevant educational background and training may apply.
experienced: 0–6 years of experience in aircraft maintenance, line/base maintenance, or technical operations preferred.
