i. position summary

the accountant plays a critical role in the financial health of an organization by managing general ledger accounts, processing transactions, reconciling statements, and producing accurate financial reports. they ensure transparency and compliance in all financial operations.

ii. key responsibilities

a. financial reporting and analysis

financial statement preparation: prepare and analyze accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including the balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement.

general ledger management: maintain the general ledger, ensuring all financial transactions are properly recorded and classified in accordance with established accounting principles (gaap/ifrs).

reconciliation: perform timely reconciliation of bank accounts, credit card accounts, and subsidiary ledger accounts (., accounts receivable, accounts payable) to the general ledger.

budgeting assistance: assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial projections for departmental and organizational use.

b. compliance and operations

transaction processing: process day-to-day financial transactions, including posting journal entries, managing accounts payable and receivable functions, and processing payroll.

tax compliance: prepare and file necessary tax returns (., sales tax, corporate tax) and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations.

audit support: coordinate and assist with external and internal audits by providing required documentation and explanations.

internal controls: assist in establishing and maintaining internal controls and accounting procedures to minimize financial risk and protect assets.

c. advisory and documentation

financial advice: provide management with timely and relevant financial information, reports, and analysis to support strategic decision-making.

record keeping: maintain comprehensive and organized electronic and physical financial records and files.

fixed assets: manage and track fixed assets, including depreciation and amortization schedules.
