Co2 Welding Welder Welding Inspection Welding Technology Welding Techniques
A CO2 Welder (also known as a MIG/MAG Welder) is a specialist in the metal fabrication industry. In an industrial city like Nashik, these professionals are highly sought after by automotive component manufacturers and heavy engineering firms in the Ambad and Satpur MIDC zones.Unlike manual metal arc welding (stick welding), CO2 welding uses a continuous wire feed and Carbon Dioxide as a shielding gas to create high-speed, high-strength joints on mild steel.Job SummaryThe CO2 Welder is responsible for joining metal parts together using Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) equipment. You work primarily with mild steel to fabricate frames, brackets, and industrial structures. The goal is to produce deep-penetration welds that are structurally sound and aesthetically clean (low spatter) while adhering to strict production timelines.Key ResponsibilitiesEquipment Setup: Adjusting the welding machine's voltage, wire feed speed, and CO2 gas flow rate based on the thickness of the metal.Metal Preparation: Cleaning surfaces to be welded using grinders or wire brushes to remove rust, oil, or scale.Welding Operation: Executing tack welds and final run welds in various positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead).Consumable Management: Replacing the wire spool and contact tips when they become worn or stuck (the bird's nest effect).Quality Control: Inspecting welds for common defects like porosity (gas bubbles), undercut, or lack of fusion.Safety & Maintenance: Routine cleaning of the shroud to prevent spatter buildup and ensuring the workspace follows 5S standards.
